Mobile Doctors CEO Appointed to Professional Standards Association
Matthew Game, founder and Chief Executive of Mobile Doctors, has been appointed to the position of Vice Chairman of the Association of Medical Reporting Organisations (AMRO).
Matthew will work with and support the current Chairman, Ian Medforth, in the development of and implementation of AMRO's agreed strategy. Matthew was one of the original founding members of AMRO and was appointed to the position of Vice Chair following a vote by its members at the AGM on 31st March.
On his appointment, Matthew Game stated: "I have been impressed by the pioneering work AMRO has accomplished since its inception, promoting best practice in an industry that was fairly immature but growing rapidly. However, over the years, the market has seen significant change and AMRO now needs to adapt its focus to meet the challenges that currently face its members. I am proud to be playing my part to help achieve this and shape the future of medico-legal reporting."
Matthew has over 25 years experience in the healthcare sector, starting his career in the pharmaceutical industry, marketing products to GPs, and qualified as an Associate of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) before setting up Mobile Doctors in 1989 with two Medical Practitioners. Mobile Doctors has since gone from strength-to-strength, and is now one of the UK's leading providers of independent medical evidence with an extensive panel of experts, covering the full spectrum of medical disciplines. Its customer base includes all major insurance companies and over 700 of the UKs personal injury law firms.
AMRO was set up in 1998 as a trade association dedicated to the promotion of professional standards in medical reporting. In the past decade it has attracted a broad base of members representing over 60 percent of the medico-legal sector.
Commenting on the importance of AMRO as the trade body for setting standards, Matthew Game said: "Standards and regulations are key in promoting sustainability within the market, by providing protection to the claimants, instructing parties and examiners. When a market is evolving and changing at a pace, innovation is required to maintain competition and there is always a risk that short cuts may be taken, leading to questionable practises. Working with a company that's a member of a recognised trade association, however, affords you some protection."
As a founding member of AMRO, Mobile Doctors has helped to set the professional criteria for other medico-legal organisations. It subsequently played a leading part in the construction and negotiation of the original MRO Agreement in 2007, recently renewed in April 2009, designed to provide predictability of the cost of medical evidence and to streamline the recoverability of costs for the provision of medical reports in personal injury claims.
